Teaching, Learning and Assessment Strategy
Teaching, learning and assessment are at the core of what we do- they are key to enabling our children to make great progress. For a number of years we have been using self-assessment activities (and a related performance management objective) alongside review activities and staff development to help us to continue to enhance the quality of teaching, learning and assessment across the Trust. Our standards provide a shared language for all schools in the Trust that are applied and reinforced through these activities.
In September 2025 the Trust introduced a central teaching and learning improvement team including Matt O’Brien (Headteacher at Jubilee Wood), Jo Goldsmith (Headteacher at Cedars Primary), Emma Wallace (Executive Headteacher at the Village Schools Federation) and Jez Wilsdon (GUP Head of Development). The below document outlines how this team has started to work with schools across the GUP and summarises Sherrington and Caviglioli’s Walkthrus framework that provides a shared language for teachers across the Trust and shapes how the Trust is approaching CPD for teachers outside of initial teacher training.
If you have any questions regarding the content of this framework please get in touch with, Jez Wilsdon, Head of Development for the Trust via hod@grandunionpartnership.org.
